Rosacea Treatment in Bensalem and Warminster, PA

Top dermatology clinic for skin treatment, scars, and rosacea care

What Is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that causes redness, visible blood vessels, and acne-like bumps, most often on the face. It commonly appears on the cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin, and may worsen over time if left untreated. Although rosacea is often mistaken for acne or sensitive skin, it’s a distinct condition that affects millions of adults, particularly those between the ages of 30 and 50. People with fair complexions are more likely to develop rosacea, but anyone can experience it.

At City Dermatology, serving Bensalem and Warminster, Pennsylvania, our board-certified dermatologists provide advanced rosacea diagnosis and treatment to help calm redness, reduce flare-ups, and restore confidence in your skin.

Common Rosacea Symptoms and Treatment

Rosacea symptoms can range from mild flushing and redness to more visible signs such as broken capillaries, small bumps, and persistent facial swelling. Some patients also experience burning, stinging, or a sensation of heat on their skin. In more advanced cases, thickened skin around the nose (called rhinophyma) can develop. Ocular rosacea, which affects the eyes, may cause dryness, redness, or irritation.

Because these symptoms often come and go, many people delay seeking treatment. However, early care from a dermatologist specializing in rosacea can prevent progression and reduce long-term redness.

At City Dermatology, we offer evidence-based approaches to reduce redness and inflammation. Topical medications like metronidazole, azelaic acid, and ivermectin help calm inflammation, while vasoconstrictors like brimonidine or oxymetazoline improve persistent redness.

In more severe cases, low-dose doxycycline may control inflammation and prevent flare-ups. For visible blood vessels or chronic redness, laser therapies such as intense pulsed light (IPL) and pulsed dye laser (PDL) can target dilated capillaries and improve skin tone. We also recommend gentle, fragrance-free skincare and daily sunscreen to protect sensitive skin.
